Welcome to Two Crazy Ladies Love Romance
Tuesday Spotlight!

Protected by the Lawman
(Lawmen of Wyoming #1)
by Rhonda Lee Carver

The hat The gun and the will to protect.
Showing up to investigate a double homicide, Sheriff Phoenix Cade almost comes out of his boots when he sees the blonde--the only witness to the crime--covered in blood. He'd danced with her a few nights before and had every intention of getting her number until she threw up all over his shoes. Hell, his shoes would wash…
Ria Portman has spent the better part of six years convincing her family and friends that she could take care of herself. The accident took her sight, but it didn’t take her independence. There were a lot of things she’d learned over the years, especially regarding men. They said they could handle her disability, but truth was, they lied. When her assistant and client are murdered in her studio she will have to rely on one man—the one man who makes her want to trust again.
Phoenix is over his ex, but since he caught her cheating he’s compared relationships to playing with fire. It’s only a matter of time before a man gets burnt. Yet, Ria is different. She’s beautiful, smart, challenging, and doesn’t need him…even when she does. He should keep his head on straight because the killers want her dead and it’s his job to keep her safe. However, he’s realizing, a man in love becomes a giant. He’ll protect Ria with a force unlike any that has ever been seen before.

What initially inspired you to write Protected by the Lawman?

I love watching shows like Longmire, Hell on Wheels, Hatfields and McCoys. I love writing about Lawmen and men who are rough but are gentle when it comes to a woman.

Tell us little about the characters in Protected by the Lawman.

Ria is blind and finds it difficult to trust. Phoenix is married to his job and carries baggage from a failed relationship. He is naturally a protector, and Ria doesn’t want protection...she wants to find a man who sees her not as the woman who is blind, but as a lover and partner. Phoenix is a perfect blend of the man who protects and encourages her to branch out.

What was the hardest part of writing this book?

The challenge was in writing a heroine with loss of vision. Normally, I write what my characters see, and for Ria I had to write what she feels and smells. For me it was a different viewpoint. In the end, I fell in love with both of these characters.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?

The love scene. Ria had passion in her fingertips…

Ria and Phoenix were hot between the sheets. Since she couldn’t see, everything was about touch. Description was paramount in the lovemaking scenes and creating images inside of her brain.

What are your future project(s)?

I’m working on my third installment in the Hell Yeah! Kindle World. Without You (#3, Letting Go). The heroine moves back home with her son who has a chronic illness and faces bullying. She’ll meet up with Mason again, a cowboy/nurse practitioner, who will send her on a journey of rediscovery of being a seductive woman and a loving mom.

She loosened her death grip and he watched the graceful movement of her slender hand as she reached for her glass, bringing it to her mouth and taking a long sip through the straw. Her tongue swiped across her upper lip to lick an abandoned drop and his stomach tightened. That hadn’t happened in a while. Putting the glass back, she gave her long, shiny hair a flip, exposing bare skin where the neckline of the shirt swooped down one shoulder. His gaze naturally followed the line of her arm to her tiny waist and over what he could see of her voluptuous hips. Grabbing his beer, he emptied the mug and prepared himself… “Rethink that option,” Tate said.

Phoenix swiveled back to face his buddy. “Why? She’s alone, isn’t she?” “She’s also blind. She came in with her sister.” He turned back around to watch the woman, the only one he found interest in. Her blindness didn’t deter him. In fact, it encouraged him.

Here at Two Crazy Ladies Love Romance had the priviledge of receiving an ARC of Protected by the Lawman!  We would like to thank Rhonda Lee Carver for sending the ARC for our chance to read & review Protected by the Lawman! Here is Mel's 5 star review!

Ria Portman never thought she would hear from Phoenix Cade after the night they shared a couple of dances and embarrassed herself after but after witnessing a double homicide of her assistant and a client who would show up to investigate but none other than Sheriff Phoenix Cade.

Phoenix Cade thought he would never see the woman who intrigued him that night at his friends bar until he walked into her house and found her the witness to a double homicide from that moment he promised himself he would protect her from the killer.

Protected by the Lawman was fast paced, romantic suspense that kept me turning the page. Ria is my favorite kind of heroine she was independent didn’t use her blindness as disability or for pity she was self reliant and smart. Phoenix was a protector but also understood Ria wanted to be self reliant. I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop, they each had been burnt in a previous relationship and didn’t jump right in. An oh Phoenix stole my heart in one scene I know it took a lot from him to do it but he was a gentleman.

If you are looking for a awesome an old fashion romance with some suspense I recommend you pick up a copy of Protected by the Lawman, your favorite beverage and a nice comfy chair because you will not be able to put it down.

I received a free copy for my honest review!

Rhonda Lee Carver is the bestselling author of romance. She’s emotional, fun-loving, known to be witty (sometimes at the wrong times), cries during touching commercials, and values a good love story...and a hero who loves to get his hands dirty.

By day, she taps into her creative, fictional world and writes beautifully-flawed, broken characters with big hearts that readers can relate to. In the evening, she travels back to reality and becomes the adoring wife to a lucky husband and mother to their amazing kids. She's also homework virtuoso (at least she thinks so), amateur nurse, mediocre chef, pet-guru (all the strays show up at her house), and a Jackie of all trades. Yoga and chocolate keep her sane. She adds a sprinkle of her own real-life adventures in each story she spins, adventures like the time she rejected a marriage proposal and he swallowed the ring. She wouldn’t give up one thing in her crazy, chaotic, ever-amusing life, except, she might do magic tricks for the bungalow on the beach she's had her eye on (wishing never hurt anyone).

Writing for Rhonda is like falling in love and finding a new best friend over and over again. Her characters will find a place inside your heart too. Keep reading and she'll keep writing.
