Two Crazy Ladies Romance #BookReview: Dark Longing by Aja James

Dark Longing
(Pure/Dark Ones #2)
by Aja James

Blurb:

“Every story has more than one side, like a crystal that captures and reflects different colors of light. Do not take for granted what you think you know, for until you hold the entire jewel in your palm, the temptation is to fall prey to illusion and deception.”

This is a story of the Dark Ones…

Inanna: the vampire warrior

Known as the Angel of Death among her kind, she has lived millennia alone, one of the remaining True Bloods in existence, unconsciously longing for the one male she could never have.

Gabriel: the forbidden human

His soul recognizes hers from the first encounter. With the first touch, he is awakened. Though he does not know it, he has been searching for her across the ages.

But even as they are finally reunited, their love faces seemingly impossible odds. Will history repeat itself or will they break all the rules and chart a new course together?

Review:                             5 stars

Another story that is a heavy read, not because of how it was writen but because I did not want to miss on any part of it, because I wanted to know everything word by word, I wanted to take the journey the characters were taking me on and discover their secrets.
Inanna, is the vampire warrior she is also know as the Angel of Death. She has lived for a millennia and she lived alone, she longed for one male that she could never have, or could she? She is one of the few True Bloods in existence.
Gabriel, is the forbidden human, his soul recognized her from the fist encounter, and with the first touch he is awakened, but he does not remember searching for her through the span of ages.
Even as they are reunited, their loves still faces untold challenges, will they be able to brake the rules of both their kind and set a course of new beginnings in their lives and in the love they have for each other.
Read the book, its a fascinating story, well writen with deep meanings and the characters well not all of them, but most of them are really great and their own stories are great.

Welcome to Two Crazy Ladies Love Romance
Monday Spotlight!

The Lion Tamer
by Dahlia Donovan

One dominant Marine.

One troubled rugby player.

The Sin Bin will never be the same.

Gray Baird’s to-do list for the year includes starting a restaurant, claiming his submissive, and keeping his nosy friends out of his business. He has his work seriously cut out for him.

Scottie Monk prides himself on bullying his way through problems—and sometimes even people. His life is spiralling out of his control, but he refuses to break. The last thing he expects is to find peace in the confines of submission.

One man will try to tame a lion.

One man will try to heal.

And both men will have to join forces to deal with a toxic family and invasive paparazzi.

The Lion Tamer is book six in Dahlia Donovan's international bestselling gay romance series, The Sin Bin. Each one features hot rugby players and the men who steal their hearts.

Tell us about The Lion Tamer.

As the follow up to The Unexpected Santa, I thought I knew what I was getting into with starting The Lion Tamer. Gray and Scottie surprised me in many ways. Their story is more about personal growth, healing, trust, and facing painful truths than I initially imagined it would be. In the end, I think their story might be one of my favourites The Sin Bin.

What initially inspired you to write The Lion Tamer?

From Scottie’s first appearances in The Sin Bin series, I knew he would be difficult. I didn’t know who’d be able to ‘tame’ him.  The title itself came from a joke Gray makes, playing on how the mascot for the rugby team Scottie played for is the lions.  I don’t really think there was one specific thing that inspired the novel; it was just a lot of little bits that built up through writing the first five books.

Tell us little about the characters in The Lion Tamer.

Gray Baird is stubborn. He’s a retired Marine and police chief. He’s all dominant with no time for bullies, cowards, or bigots. A man who knows exactly who he is.

Scottie Monk has a lot of baggage. He’s struggling with the remnants of an abusive childhood that he self medicates with alcohol. A hot tempered former rugby star, he doesn’t really know there's a submissive in him until he meets Gray.

I enjoyed watching the sparks fly between them.

What was the hardest part of writing this book?

I touched on a few subjects that I had personal experience with in this book.  It was hard to delve into those emotions while writing.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?

All of it. I really enjoyed writing this book. It might be my favourite in the entire series.

What are your future project(s)?

I’ve wrapped up all of the books in The Sin Bin, though a few won’t be published until later this year.  I’m now working on a cottage mystery series that I’m greatly enjoying. It’s quite a change of pace from contemporary gay romance.

“I’m not a fucking kitten.” Scottie tried to shove him away, but Gray held him still. “What the fuck do you want?”

“Well, you’re certainly not a lion.” Gray bent forward to drag his nose along the side of Scottie’s neck, biting him just above his collar. “No, not a lion. You also still reek of booze. Forget to shower this morning?”

“Fuck you.”

Gray couldn’t resist a smirk when the evidence of Scottie’s arousal pressed against his leg. “Get back inside for the tasting, kitten. We’ll finish this later.”

Striding away from the heavily breathing man without a second look, Gray reached down to subtly adjust his dick. Fuck. Scottie brought out the best and worst in him. Taking things slowly wasn’t proving to be easy by any stretch of the imagination.

Maybe I’ll pay him a visit tonight.

Tuck him into bed like a good boy.

Two Crazy Ladies Love Romance #BookReview: Pure Healing by Aja James

Pure Healing
(Pure Ones #1)
by Aja James

Blurb:

In the world of Pure Ones, where sexual intercourse with anyone other than one’s Eternal Mate leads to a slow, painful death within thirty days, love comes with the warning label “fall at your own peril.”

Rain, the Healer of this immortal race, is the only exception to the rule. In order to harness and accumulate enough energy to heal severe wounds, she must take a Consort once every ten years and draw strength from his blood and body through sexual exchange. As the war with vampire hordes wears on, few Pure-males who are strong enough to serve as her Consort remain.

Valerius is one of the few. As the Protector of the race, he is by far the strongest candidate Rain could hope for. Despite their instant attraction ten years ago when they first met, Valerius has staunchly avoided applying to be the Healer’s Consort. The brutality and violence he suffered as a Roman sex slave in his human life ate away at his soul, leaving a raw, gaping wound of anguish and self-doubt, which two thousand years of stoic, solitary existence has not been able to heal.

As the decadal rite draws near, as threats from their nemesis intensify, and as Rain’s strength drains with every healing act, Valerius beats back his inner demons and gives himself to the Healer unconditionally. Rain chooses Valerius despite her fear that her desire and need for him would lead her to repeat the mistakes of the past with her first Consort. To avoid that tragedy, Rain stipulates from the beginning that Valerius cannot fall in love with her, for she cannot love him in return. Even though the consequence is death, this is the one promise Valerius cannot keep.

As Rain and Valerius battle their personal pain and fears, they must decide whether they let their histories and duties dictate their destiny or whether they risk all for a chance at everlasting love.

Review:                             5 stars

Out of all the books I have read this one is the most intense one, there were times I thought to stop reading as I was not sure where this was heading, yet wanting to know how it would end, as some of the characters had grown on me. And truthfully I can say am not sorry, best reading I have done in a long time.
The Pure Ones, are ones where sexual intercourse with anyone other than one’s Eternal Mate leads to a slow, painful death within thirty days, love comes with the warning label “fall at your own peril.” I don't think we could survive this, to know that loving someone and it was not returned and that after having sex one would wither and die.
Rain is the healer of the Immortal Race, and she is the only one that does not fall under that rule, every 10 years she can take a consort and he will restore her.
With their battles with a horde of Vampires thins them out. Valerius is the Protector and the strongest candidate that Rain could hope for. One thing that he had been avoiding. The things he has gone through and suffered as a Roman Sex Slave make feel unworthy of her.
As Rain and Valerius battle their own pain and fears they must decide if their duties or their wants and desires are more important.
The story was very interesting and spanning over 2000 years possibly even more , the characters were deep caring and loving.
Will Rain and Valerius find eternal love, read the book to find out.

Two Crazy Ladies Love Romance #BookReview: Hail Mary by Lani Lynn Vale

Hail Mary
(Hail Raisers #6)
by Lani Lynn Vale

Mary Persephone Hail
Mary—well-wished-for child.

Persephone—destruction.

Hail—well that speaks for itself.

Her name is painful to think about. Mary, his newfound daughter, isn’t a wished-for child. Persephone, though? Yeah, destruction is a fitting description. And Hail? Yeah, that’s just the final f-you.

The moment that her mother drops her off on his doorstep, Dante’s hell becomes complete.
Or so he thinks.

What can make life worse after losing one’s wife and kids, you ask? Here’s what: being given a baby that depends on him for her survival. Finding out that the baby’s mother is dying of brain cancer, and has a husband that he never knew about. A husband that Dante knows in the marrow of his bones is trying to kill her just as surely as the cancer eating her brain.
Dante’s a bad person. He’s done some not so nice things, and now he’s being punished for his misdeeds. Karma is finally catching up to him.

This child that he’s been stuck with is of his flesh and bone. This child is his salvation. This child is the final nail in the coffin of his wife and daughters’ too short lives.

He doesn’t want this child.

But this child will save him whether he wants her to or not.

With the help of a friend—yes, a woman friend—Dante finds his way back to life. But what he finds when he gets back isn’t the same life that he left behind. Turns out, he has to start living a new one. One where he's suddenly having feelings for a friend that helped him get through some tough times, and loving a daughter that won’t let him quit.

Review:
4 stars

Let me start by saying this was my first read by Lani Lynn Vale and probably not my last and what a book to be my first by the author. It had romance, suspense and an a broken-mad-at-the-world bad boy who lost his entire world when his wife & two little girls were ripped from his life in a car accident. Well that was until two “special” ladies came into his life. Mary, his daughter a product of a drunken one night affair and Cobie a person he promised to watch over to his baby’s mother on her deathbed, never guessing she would worm her way into his heart.

Mary and Cobie was Dante’s saving grace. When Mary came into Dante’s life he learned to live again & when Cobie came into his life he learned to love again. Mary helped stop his downward spiral gave him purpose for life, Cobie just picked up were Mary couldn’t reach. Mary fixed his heart but Cobie fixed his soul, with little bumps and curves in the road.

Lani Lynn made you feel the pain that Dante was going through with allowing Cobie in, sometimes you just wanted to wring his neck but at the end he redeemed himself.

Hail Mary was an excellent afternoon-evening read.

Two Crazy Ladies Love Romance #BookReview: The Bastard's Bargain by Katee Robert

The Bastard's Bargain
(The O'Malley's #6)
by Katee Robert

When Keira O’Malley was a child, she used to picture her perfect wedding. The flowers. The dress. Her husband. But nothing could have prepared her for saying “I do” to Dmitri Romanov—cold, domineering and always one step ahead of everyone else in the ever-shifting power plays of New York City. She agreed to his bargain to secure peace for her family, and she may want the bastard more than she’d ever admit, but she’ll be damned if she’ll make this marriage easy for him.

Dmitri knows better than to underestimate Keira for one second. Molten desire smolders between them, a dangerous addiction neither can resist. But his enemies are already on the move, and he needs every ounce of his legendary focus and control to keep them alive. Keira could just be his secret weapon—if she doesn’t bring him to his knees first.

Review:
5 stars

Katee Robert left the best for last in The O’Malley Series in my opinion! I was fortunate enough to read two previous books in the O’Malley Series (The Wedding Pact book 2 Carrigan O’Malley/ James Halloran story & Forbidden Promise book 4 Sloan O’Malley/Jude MacNamara story) As in the first two books I read The Bastard’s Bargain had suspense, hot steamy sex, hot alpha males, and take no crap from those alpha males females except in the bedroom, well I should say Keira O’Malley was different than her sisters in that department she took no crap in that department too.

Dmitri Romanov had a score to settle with Aiden O’Malley, Keira’s brother, a wife and a sister that he “stolen” from him and what a way to pay him back but marrying his babysister Keira.

Keira O’Malley was addicted to drugs & alcohol, she hadn’t had a sober twenty-four hours since her beloved brother Devlin O’Malley was murdered. She has been drawn to Dmitri since the first time she saw him. When Dmitri offers her a “bargain” he doesn’t start war with her brother if she marries him she takes him up on his offer. But unknown to both of them is what to come a cosmic combustion between the two.

I thought the chemistry between the other two couples (Carrigan/James & Sloan/Jude) was out of this world, the chemistry between Keira and Dmitri was out of this universe it was sizzling hot. Keira was a badass lady when she finally was sober she sure brought Mr. cold, domineering to his knees.

I recommend you pick up a copy of The Bastard’s Bargain and find out why this gal couldn’t put it down.

This was a cool story, a tad to slow and at time a bit confusing, but after a few chapters I could see where it worked and it gave me an overall picture of what was going on.

Bullet Simmons is a bad boy and a bull rider, but the man has a heart of gold, the only thing he has some trouble in is making decisions. He meets Tristan McCullough and looses his heart o her, and vows to win her over and make her see that is is worthy of her and worthy of a Lost Cowboy sponsor ship. Can he become the kind of man her Family brand represent?
