“I hear we’re meeting? And that you’re buying me a drink?”

She pursed her lips and nodded. Then took another drink of her Diet Coke. “As a thank-you,” she said finally after she swallowed her sip.

“Oh. A thank-you. Funny how I didn’t get one earlier.”

“I thanked you,” she said. “You know. After you picked me up off the side of the road.”

“But not for fixing your tire. And you didn’t text me. I thought you were going to let me know if you had a ride.”

“I thought I was going to let you know if I needed a ride. And my boss gave me one. So I didn’t.” She cleared her throat. “Thank you. For fixing the car. I really do appreciate it. And I do owe you a drink.”

“Is it possible that you were covering your ass, though? Because you didn’t want to tell Kaylee that you were here to stare at Bennett all evening?”

Her face got hot and she had a feeling she was lit up like the damned neon sign that hung outside the saloon. “No… I don’t…”

Her gaze drifted over to the table, to where Kaylee and Bennett sat next to each other. That stomach tightening turned into a twist. A mean, painful twist that sent a metallic taste flooding through her mouth.

“You don’t care.” Luke leveled his gaze on her. “Laz,” he called out. “Can I get a shot? Something really good, because Olivia Logan is paying. And you know she’s good for it.”

Laz nodded and set about to pouring another measure of amber liquid into Luke’s glass.

“Excuse me?” Olivia asked.

“I changed your tire, Olivia,” Luke said. “Don’t go getting me cheap alcohol.”

“No. What do you mean I don’t care?”

Luke sat next to her, his broad shoulder nearly brushing hers as he took his position on the stool. “You don’t care about Bennett.”

“Yes,” she said. “I do. I care about Bennett… A lot. I love him.”

“Why did you break up with him then?”

“It’s complicated,” she said.

“It’s not that complicated. You want to be with him or you don’t.”

Great. She was getting lectured about love and relationships by a man whose longest relationship had

been with his pickup truck. “I needed to be sure that he wanted to be with me,” she said stiffly.

“Okay,” he said, arching a brow. “By breaking up with him?”

“Well,” she returned, “it’s informative. I mean… I guess at this point not so informative in the way that I wanted it to be.”

“You wanted him to see what he was missing?” Luke asked.

For all that he pretended not to understand her feelings, he seemed to understand pretty well. Better than she would like, actually. She didn’t like that he could see through her quite so easily because if Luke could, surely everyone could. “Yes,” she answered reluctantly.

He lifted a shoulder. “I still don’t think you care.”

She picked up her soda, and then redirected, brought it down hard on the bar. “I do care.” Her heart was pounding and she was breathing fast. “Stop acting like you know what I want. Or you know what I think. You don’t actually know me.”

What could turned a control, prim & proper, always pleasing young female to live for the moment type of gal Luke Hollister can.  What type of female would could make mysterious, no-commitment cowboy change Olivia Logan!  

Smooth Talking Cowboy was a very enjoyable chilly wet weekend read for me. I fell in love with Luke. He is my dream cowboy mysterious, sexy as hell, caring, cocky as hell  what I would love in my cowboy if I ever had one & Olivia agrees with me.  

Olivia was on a mission to win back her ex-boyfriend Bennett after she broke things off with him after he didn’t ask her to marry him during Christmas. When Luke offered to help her with trying to win Bennett back she took her up on the offer. But will her feelings change for Bennett after she gets a taste of a whiskey kiss from Luke.

As we follow Bullet and Tristan’s stories, we also take a peek into the history of beloved characters Bill and Dottie Patterson. What brought the two together, and why has Bill vowed never to have anything to do with rodeo for the rest of his life? 

Favorite characters from the Rice and Patterson families pay us a visit, and also serve to help these two “lost” souls come together. 

This is book can be read as a standalone with no cliffhanger.

This was a cool story, a tad to slow and at time a bit confusing, but after a few chapters I could see where it worked and it gave me an overall picture of what was going on.

Bullet Simmons is a bad boy and a bull rider, but the man has a heart of gold, the only thing he has some trouble in is making decisions. He meets Tristan McCullough and looses his heart o her, and vows to win her over and make her see that is is worthy of her and worthy of a Lost Cowboy sponsor ship. Can he become the kind of man her Family brand represent? 

Tristan says she doesn’t believe he can, but there’s something about the cowboy that makes her hope she’s wrong.

He is just about to give up hope, when he hears that Lost Cowboy has teamed up with the Flying R Rough Stock Ranch to co-sponsor the sponsorship. He hires on there hoping, if he works hard enough, he can prove to them he has changed and is the right man for the job. But Tristan is still resistant, even under pressure from the men at the Flying R who have become his friends.


Fate sends him a last chance, a golden opportunity, when he finds himself alone with Tristan for a week at a dude ranch in the Colorado Rockies. Bullet vows to pull out all the stops, even his old ways, since the new ways weren’t working.


But would those moves get him the money or a swift kick in the nuts? Or would his life be further complicated by falling in love with a hardheaded rich girl who’d sworn off loving bad boy bull riders?

“You can’t leave until tomorrow. Stay one more night, at least.”

“I don’t know; I really should get back.”

“If you stay until Tuesday, Ben can fly you back.”

Tristan couldn’t stay until Tuesday, and she couldn’t ask Ben to fly her across the country again so soon.

“I appreciate it, but—”

“Go home tomorrow instead.”

“Liv, you’re being silly.”

“There’s a party tonight, just for the partners. Billy and Jace are gonna be mad if you miss it.”

Tristan folded her arms in front of her. “Really?” she smirked. “They’re going to be mad at me?”

“As soon as the words came out of my mouth, I knew you wouldn’t buy it. How about this? I’m begging you to stay.”

“Liv—”

“Wait. I’ve got one better. If you stay, I’ll invest in your new clothing line.”

That got Tristan’s attention. The idea had been in the back of her mind, and was one of the reasons she hadn’t broached the subject with her father yet. She’d been contemplating producing the line on her own. Making it separate from Lost Cowboy.

“Aha! That got you thinking, didn’t it?” Liv reached around and patted herself on the back. “I knew I could get you to stay.”

“Are you serious, or do you just want me to stay?”

The expression on Liv’s face changed. She was no longer joking. “I’m very serious. And I’m not the only one interested.”

“Who else?”

“Lyric, Dottie, Bree, Renie. I’m sure Paige, who’s Bree and Blythe’s mother, would be interested too. She’s the real businesswoman of the bunch.”

“You’re kidding?”

“I’m not.”

“Why?”

“Are you kidding? There are a thousand reasons.”

“Name a couple.”

“You already know the first reason. We love your designs. Apart from that, it’s girly. We’re surrounded by cowboys and rough stock. Not that we don’t love our cowboys. But investing in your line would give us a feminine outlet.”

Tristan listened intently. Liv was serious. This wasn’t a ploy to get her to stay longer, and Liv wasn’t being polite. She believed enough to want to invest. And so did the others.

“Okay. I’ll stay.”

Liv let out a whoop and danced around the kitchen. “Call the lawyers, Dottie! We’re startin’ a clothing line.”

“Let’s finish making dinner first. Then we’ll call the lawyers,” Dottie answered.

“Spoilsport,” Liv teased.

“Can I help?” Tristan asked Dottie, who put her flour-covered hand on Tristan’s shoulder.

“Do you like to cook? I’d love to have more help.” Dottie glared at Liv when she said it, but it quickly turned into a smile.

“I’m a great cook,” answered Liv.

“You’re a great baker.”

“You’re right. Ben is a better cook than I am.”

“You got that right, darlin’.” Ben walked into the kitchen, put his arms around Liv’s waist, and kissed her cheek. “But I love you anyway.”

Liv turned around and gave Ben a kiss that made Tristan blush. When she looked over at Dottie, the woman was smiling at her. Tristan’s eyes filled with tears.

Dottie pulled her over. “What’s wrong, sweet girl?”

“You remind me so much of my mother,” Tristan whispered. When Dottie hugged her tight, Tristan couldn’t stop her tears. “I miss her so much.”

“How long has it been, sweetheart?”

“She died when I was fifteen.”

If you like race horses, a ranch then you found the right book.
The story was fantastic, the characters were even better, and the story weaved just the right way that one could see the ranch and the work that went into training horses. As Ty Masters prepares to hire a new trainer Season Moriarty, now she is part a Druid, part fey but not a witch, but she can make the horses run and know what they need and what they want.
She also can turn Ty's life upside down and she does. Even when she has to explain to him what she can do, after seeing her work her magic.
Mysterious threats to Ty’s racehorses bring him and Season together in a race against the clock. As the stakes for the Triple Crown rise, and the mystery of who wants to destroy Ty deepens, so does the undeniable interest and fiery sparks between them.

Austin McBride is a cowboy and new in town after he left his firefighting days behind, now he is a cowboy, but not as happy as he used to be. When he finds out there is an opening at the local Station he applies, but there is one tiny issue, there is a blond bombshell who wants the job.

Watching them interact is down right funny, to the point that I was laughing really hard, he likes her she wants the job, but is she fit to become the Chief or will Austin help her get it, one has to win and for you to find out, well partner just read the story, its fast paced and funny.
