Two Crazy Ladies Love Romance #TuesdaySpotlight w/#Giveaway: Powers' Pulse by Jennifer Driscoll

Welcome to Two Crazy Ladies Love Romance
Tuesday Spotlight!

Powers' Pulse
by Jennifer Driscoll

Hailey Powers left Chicago at nineteen, vowing to never look back, even if it meant leaving CJ Montgomery, and a piece of her heart, behind. She has changed in her time away – grown stronger, done things no one could have predicted, raised a daughter almost entirely on her own. When she returns to Chicago, under the most difficult of circumstances, she will be thrust into CJ’s life and career, the very things he’s made without her. Can she go home? And when she does, is that to a place or to a person?

CJ Montgomery has made peace with her leaving, at least that is what he tells himself to get through his days and nights. Thirteen years have passed since Hailey walked away, hand in hand with CJ’s best friend Jamie no less. Are thirteen years long enough for a heart to forget? He’s tried to let her go, made a life as a surgeon, dated more than his share of women – more than his brothers’ shares too. But there will be only one Hailey in his life and he has always believed in second chances. When she reappears in his life, in his hospital, and in need of his help, he’ll stand true. Will the choices Hailey made in life keep them reliving the past or give them a second chance at the future?

Powers’ Pulse is a story of friendship, secrets, and letting love lead you home – no matter where or who that might be. Love finds a way.

Tell us about Powers' Pulse.

Powers’ Pulse is Book 2 of my Chicago series (Romantic Suspense).
The blurb goes like this...

What initially inspired you to write Powers' Pulse?

To be honest, it was the natural extension of the Montgomery family story after Waters’ Reflection was completed.  That first book arose out of a dream, I kid you not.  The height of romance novel cliche - to start with a dream.  I woke up one day recalling a conversation scene that shows up in Waters’ Reflection, mid-book at the height of an emotional break-up.  I was shaken.  I was, at the time, not a writer.  I had no intention of writing a book, let alone three.  I was working as a physician, married to my physician husband, raising two crazily sarcastic kids, and reading romance novels with my mother-in-law for fun.  We had challenged ourselves to read the entire Nora Roberts collection which, if you love her, you know is quite a list.  All those stories got into my head.  There is a phrase in medicine - see one, do one, teach one.  I guess I applied it to writing books and after all that reading, my brain decided I needed to “do one.”  I simply couldn’t let the story go.  Or it wouldn’t let me go, I don’t know.  It begged to be written.  So I did - on weekends, and holidays, and late nights.  I wrote about this couple from my dream.  Turns out my hero character had two brothers who needed their story to be told as well.  So here we are.  Two books into a trilogy and still loving every minute of it.

Tell us little about the characters in Powers' Pulse.

Ahh, CJ Montgomery - rogue, loyal, handsome trauma surgeon, middle brother in the Montgomery Family, and philosophical drinker.  He kept his feelings for Hailey secret for too long, and it cost him more than he cares to admit.

And Hailey Powers - mother of sweet, precocious Natalie, recently separated from her marine husband, holder of secrets, and excellent bowler.  She’s loved CJ as long as she can remember but, never a dreamer, she made a life without him.

Their lives collide mid-trauma over her husband’s wrecked body in CJ’s ICU.

What was the hardest part of writing this book?

Honestly, I started to write this book before breast cancer diverted my days and nights with worry.  I set it aside when my brain couldn’t put two coherent sentences together while on chemo.  I pushed it away when I was so tired during radiation that all I could do was nap and dream of finishing this book.  It represents so much of me - medical protagonist, devoted mom, family-centered relationships, and it is dedicated to my breast cancer sisterhood.  It is my miracle book - it brought me back to who I am and who I wanted to survive to be.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?

Always the Epilogue.  I’m such a sucker for happily ever after.  Nothing is more fun to write.

What are your future project(s)?

Well, Book 3 is on the horizon.  Winters’ Season will finish the trilogy with the story of oldest brother, Kerry Montgomery, and his search for love.  He’ll need to conquer fear to get there but Molly Winters can do anything, so it looks good for these two.
