BAND OF BACHELORS: ALEX by NYT Bestselling Author Sharon Hamilton goes on sale June 14th!

Adrenaline junkie and Navy SEAL Alex Kowicki is one of four bachelor SEALs trying to navigate his successful military career while achieving his goals as a first class connoisseur of beautiful women. He isn't ready to jump back into anything but his free falls, HALO drops or his missions overseas. He trusts his buddies to fix him up with another blind date that won't be as dangerous as his last ones.

But Sydney Robinson has other plans. A beach volleyball player who can spike better than most men, she knows how to execute a series of events that include stalking the handsome SEAL all the way to Sonoma County, capturing him in a winery and delivering his carcass to her bed for keeps. Along the way, the two of them fight a home-grown terrorist cell in a duel that might cost one of them their lives.

Q & A with Sharon Hamilton about Band of Bachelor's: Alex

Tell us about your Band of Bachelors series books?
Band of Bachelors is my third SEALs series. The SEAL Brotherhood is the original 7 books, based on the men in SEAL Team 3, based out of San Diego, and under the leadership of their LPO, Kyle Lansdowne (Accidental SEAL). Then came the Bad Boys of SEAL Team 3.

Band of Bachelors are 5 guys, and they all should have a story, who live together in an apartment, all divorced, in various stages of dating or serial dating, mostly with money problems, child custody issues and things arising from a general lack of good decisions on their part. They are, however, still heroes. They do their job 100% as a SEAL. They need help in the female department--not getting females, but maintaining healthy relationships.

What initially inspired you to write about Navy SEAL’s.
I have a family member who spent 10 years as a SEAL, and through that person, have met many others. The more I study them, the more excited I am to write their stories. My way to keep some of them safe, since I get to have a HEA.

Tell us little about the characters in this book.
My newest book Band of Bachelors: Alex, is about Alex Kowicki, a high-intensity individual who has trouble doing things halfway, or toned down. He’s always compromised, when it comes to women, compartmentalizing them in the entertainment category. But for the first time, he meets another elite warrior, an athlete, Sydney Robinson, who is attempting to make the pro AVP beach volleyball circuit.

Their passion for life and intensity mask a vacancy in their souls neither understands until they meet each other and discover they are so much alike. We meet them at a crossroads in their career. Alex considers further involvement with SEAL Team 6, while Sydney sets out a year-long course to train to go pro. Will one or both of them survive this relationship, or those that would try to separate them forever?

What was the hardest part of writing this book?
I talk about writing about personality disorders in my blog this week: http://sharonhamiltonauthor.blogspot.com/2016/06/intensity-borderline-personality.html

Here’s a lovely song that encompasses this: https://youtu.be/HjCSGhcywRc

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
I think this one, because it has a very beautiful passage in Alex’ POV. I like the way he’s discovered himself here.

I know this has nothing to do with the book but I just have to know is JD Hart’s voice as sexy in person as in your audiobooks. I love reading your books but listening to your audiobooks and having JD talk in my ear makes me all hot & bothered. He has ruined me for all other audiobooks.

Well, I prefer the headsets, to be honest. But it’s wonderful to be around him. We are close friends, not partners in any way, except in these collaborations. We’re both lucky to have found each other, and to be able to work with another talented person is just the thrill of a lifetime.

We come from different ages, and times, live in different circumstances and parts of the country, and our backgrounds are vastly different. So, when we get together, we’re asking all sorts of questions. It’s totally different than listening to him on an audio book. That’s where all the dreaming and fun happens.

But in person, we are both shy, and I think a little awkward. But it’s always a joy to see him again. We’re lucky we both are married to people who understand the purity of our friendship and the energy it gives us both.

I’m ruined for other narrators as well. No one else would ever come close. But that’s me. I figured if I had a strong reaction to his voice, my readers would as well.

And now a Special Excerpt from BAND OF BACHELORS: ALEX…
She hesitated. He was good at brushing people off. Regardless of their world-class evening and morning, he could separate that. He could walk away. Her heart fluttered slightly as she realized perhaps she could not. Or just didn’t want to.
“So what do you want to know?”

“Who are you, Sydney?”
the second or third date, just before she was about to exit stage right.
Her answer was measured, and well practiced.
“I want more out of life than life’s given me so far, but I’m not complaining. I just want more of it. I want the juice of life, not to live life. I’m looking to get a good partner and travel the world playing volleyball until my knees ache and my back or shoulder gives out. And after volleyball? Who knows what I can do at eighty?” She gave him the smile she’d given so many other dumbstruck men over the few years since she’d been dating. It was always the same. It also usually got same reaction.
But this time, she saw something ignite inside Alex. The backdrop of lonely sea gull cries, the salty gentle breeze and the sounds of metal clanging as work began late at the docks, only enhanced the excitement brewing in her belly. She was struck with the beauty and power of something maybe dangerous about this man. And also something so beautiful, her eyes watered.
