Q & A with Laura N. Andrews about This Time!
Tell us about This Time.
This Time is a sweet romance story about a single mother and the sexy hunk she meets at a club. Everyone has their back story and with these two, they both individually need to learn how to trust the other in order for them to give love a second chance. Along with some humour and steamy sex scenes, This Time is a beautiful romance about giving love another shot. It is the first book in my Timeless Love series.
What initially inspired you to write This Time?
When the idea of This Time came to me, I was writing another book. It wasn’t until I’d written half of Charlie and Brad’s story that I realised both of these stories are part of the same world. However, they take place the other way around. There’re at least one or two aspects of this book that were inspired by true events, although I won’t reveal them as I don’t want to ruin the story.
Tell us little about the characters in This Time.
Charlie and Brad individually have painful pasts when it comes to their previous relationships. Charlie is a single mum when she meets Brad, a hotshot lawyer, at a club. Because they both struggle with trust, mistakes and misassumptions cause rifts between them. It’s up to their friends and family to help them see the truth, and together they need to learn to let the other in.
What was the hardest part of writing this book?
The hardest part writing this book was the fact that the main character is a mum. As I’m not, I could only go on research and imagination when it came to portraying Charlie and her baby boy, Lucas.
What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
Honestly, my favourite part is about three quarters into the book. Charlie and Brad have a fight and although it’s upsetting, it’s real. It’s real life mistakes, real life assumptions and in the end it’s up to them to figure out if they can forgive each other. A part of life is about learning from past mistakes and in relationships communication is key. So even though the romantic parts and the sex scenes are great, this part is my favourite.
What are your future project(s)?
After this book I wrote a novella called Forever You.
It’s an M/M romance and part of my publisher’s (Hot Tree Publishing’s) Trade Me Collection.
This Time is the first book in my Timeless Love series. The sequel is called Time for Love and is due for release on May 20th. It’s an M/M romance featuring a character introduced in This Time. I have many WIP’s at the moment however, with a trilogy in the works, I’m hoping to submit the first book to my publisher very soon!
Is there anything else you would like to tell the readers about this book/series?
While I know my next submission is part of a trilogy, my Timeless Love series doesn’t have a certain number. There are many characters and will be many more introduced as the series develops, it just depends which characters and how many want me to tell their story.
The trilogy will take part in the same world as Timeless Love and there’ll be certain connections, maybe even some character cameos!
