Virtue of Death

At eighteen, Sera Moore chose to go to culinary school while a higher power selected her to become an angel, specifically, an angel of death.
Now, twelve years later, Sera’s a successful baker during the day and performs her angelic duties at night. The only thing missing in her life is a man, but the last thing she wants is to fall head over wings in love. It seems her relationships are unable to survive once she reveals her nighttime activities, so it’s easier to not even bother.

But when a tenacious food critic won't take a hint, can Sera lower her wings long enough to risk her heart one more time?

Q & A with Randi Perrin about Virtue of Death

Tell us about Virtue of Death
Virtue of Death is a dual-POV paranormal romance that tells the story of an angel of death finding love that she had written off ever happening. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to fall in love, but after a bad experience, she had pretty much given up on it. Her secret “identity” was just something no relationship she’d ever been in was able to overcome.

What initially inspired you to write Virtue of Death?
The book was actually a NaNoWriMo project. I told a friend that and she was like, “NaNoWriMo projects actually become something?” Well, in my case, it did.

It was not originally plotted to be a paranormal romance, it was going to be contemporary. I was lying in bed one night a few nights into the mad writing dash that is NaNo, and I decided to give her an angel wing back tattoo. My husband crawled into bed and I sat up and went, “What if I made her an angel?” Of course he had no idea what I was talking about and he said, “Sure honey, whatever you want to do.” It sort of unraveled from there.

Tell us little about the characters in Virtue of Death.
Sera is pretty, blonde, really sweet, and on the outside is pretty much perfect—and she makes her own Nutella, what’s not to love about that? But she’s also got secrets; quite a few things that have a tendency to mess with her head.

Destin is a local reporter and critic with a winning smile that has been known to bed any girl he wanted. He is taken by Sera the first time he sees her and he simply will not leave her alone. He’s quite tenacious when he wants something, and he wants Sera.

What was the hardest part of writing Virtue of Death?
It is going to sound cliché but the first chapter and the last chapter. I rewrote the opening chapter at least five times, and the last chapter three before I was satisfied.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
I absolutely loved writing interactions between Destin and Cheryl, Sera’s snarktastic best friend. The two of them are absolutely hilarious together.

What are your future project(s)?

I have a lot of stuff under contract that will come out this year and next year, so that’s really cool. In fact, I have two releases in September. The first is Unintentional—North American Edition, a friends-to-lovers anthology I’m a part of coming out September 13 from Hot Tree Publishing; and a novella entitled Wreck You on September 27, also from Hot Tree Publishing.

As far as in-progress stuff, I have two novels in the works. One is a continuation of the Earthbound Angels series, and the other is a romantic suspense.

Is there anything else you would like to tell the readers about this book/series?The Earthbound Angels novels are, in theory, going to be a trilogy. The second one is complete and I’ve just started work on the third one. Be sure to follow my blog or catch me on Facebook or Twitter to keep up-to-date with the latest on the series.

5 stars

What a book and what a story, Michael and Gabriel 2 heavenly bound Angels who watch over Earth bound Angels, the earth bound Angels all have different duties, which they are given when they become Angels, Sara and Cheryl are such Angels. Sara's job is to touch and hold hands of the humans that are about to die and take them to where they will be judges, she is the one that makes the transition from life to death easier for us. Cheryl protects and can save lives.
Destin is human and falling for his Angel Sara, the trip they take is so sweet, what it took for them to admit they are in love and still they go through a lot before, well there is more to it.
This was a story that flowed like a gentle river and took my mind to explore the possibilities, truly a remarkable story. Thank you for a wonderful trip Randi Perrin...

Randi has spent her entire life writing in one form or another. In fact, if she wasn't writing, she'd likely go completely and utterly insane. Her husband has learned to recognize when the voices are talking in her head and she needs some quality time with an empty Word file (the key to a successful marriage with a writer).
She lives with her husband, daughter, and four-legged children—all of which think they are people too.
A pop-culture junkie, she has been known to have entire conversations in movie quotes and/or song lyrics.
