Happy one year publiversary on the Aug 21st, Ani!
Hi! I'm Ani Bishop. I’m a married mother of two who lives in a small town. My life hasn't been easy, but it's been filled with family. Our house had always been filled with laughter and not one moment of peace could be found. But, we’ve never been bored.
Reading has never been a chore for me, it's been a great passion. Writing, however, came afterward. Just a story in my head that needed to be told, and I wrote the first few words. Ever since I started, there was no stopping. Every day, every week, I've worked, and written, and had fun. Because writing is fun, if you love it.
Q & A with Ani Bishop
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a 26 year old mom of two. I’m married to the man I have been in love with for the better part of my teenage years. He’s my soul and everything (besides my kids).
What do you do when you are not writing?
I cook, clean, take care of my kids and work full time.
Do you write full-time or part-time?
I write mostly part-time now because I have a full-time job that takes most of my day and the rest I have to organize for a lot of other stuff.
When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book?
I started writing when my son was a few months old (he’s three now) and I published my first book last year. It was August.
How would you describe your style of writing to someone that has never read your work?
I write romantic suspense in third person.
What is/are your book(s) about?
My Light is book one in the No More Secrets series. It’s about second chances. It’s a true love story separated because of life decisions. Love that comes back for a second try with a hint of danger lurking in the sidelines.
Synopsis: Ella loved Braden for the year they’d been together, she'd missed him for the eleven months he’d been gone. She had to admit that her reaction upon seeing him again proved she wouldn’t stop loving him anytime soon.
Braden left Ella for many reasons, but not the ones she thought he had, especially not the lie he'd told her to keep her safe. Would she ever believe him after the way he'd hurt her?
When the truth is revealed, will they embrace their second chance? Or is it too late to reclaim the light they'd found in each other?
In The Silence is book two in the No More Secrets series. It’s about falling in love when everything around you seems to fall apart. There’s a stalker in the shadows and a man that has never allowed himself to ‘feel’ anything for a woman before.
Synopsis: Amy Welton has a good life. Her mother and brother are the world to her, as is her best friend—and sister-by-choice—Bella. That’s how she finds herself in the midst of planning a party for two amazing people, and the help she receives comes in the form of one very sexy, dark, alpha male.
Rylee Kane isn’t the kind of guy you’d bring home to your mother. He’s the one who takes a woman to bed for a single purpose, and that ain’t love. But when he’s saddled with beautiful Amy, something happens to him. She’s a woman whom he’d never think of taking to bed, yet, he can’t come up with anything he’d rather do. The stakes rise, and his will is challenged.
He pisses her off all the time. She tests his nerves at every turn. When her feelings morph into something she swore not to let happen, will she stick through the danger to see the end? Or will they be over before they really begin?
What books/authors have influenced your writing?
A lot of authors had me just amazed by their skills. Rachel Gibson was the author I bought but haven’t read a book of hers before that. That one had me hooked. Then there was Jill Shalvis and Laurann Dohner, Tess Oliver and Nina Levine. My mentor helped me the most though. Lucy Gage is a wonderful author and the most patient and wonderful person I know.
What are your thoughts on good/bad reviews?
I think every review is important and that there are no bad reviews if they are written in a way that they can help an author. We want to know where we went wrong. We want to have that critique so we can improve.
Good reviews are amazing. They make us see that we aren’t doing this for nothing. We want people to like our books and hide in the little world we created. It gives us pleasure.
What is your next project!
I have two actually. Book 3 of No More Secrets series and a dragon shifter story. Which will come next I don’t know. I want to release the shifter story first though because I love the genre and I want to get into it too.
When you are in writer mode, music or no music? If music do you have a playlist
Depends. Sometimes silence is the best but if hubby is home and I am in my writer mode I turn the music up so I don’t hear anyone. I can’t focus on writing if I hear a lot of different sounds around. But if I do turn the music up I usually go to youtube and just type in one song. Then youtube gives me their playlist. Most of the time I agree with it.
