Blurb:
Annie Mast and Levi Miller were best friends until his father was shunned by the church. Now, ten years later, Levi has returned to Arthur, Illinois, for a brief visit, and he and Annie discover their bond is as strong as ever. Spending as much time together as possible, Annie finds herself dreaming of a future with Levi. And Levi is soon dreaming of building a home on a beautiful local hillside--to live in with Annie. Yet their longings are unlikely to become reality...
Levi is part of the English world, and while Annie cannot see herself there, she knows she must reveal her heart's truth to him. And Levi, strongly reminded of his Amish roots, knows he must heal the bitterness of the past. And together, with love on their side, they just may find their way to an answered prayer..
Review: 5 stars
I loved watching Annie and Levi rekindle their friendship after Levi being gone from the Amish community for ten years due to his father’s shunning from the church and watching that friendship blossoming to more. As in any faith, the Amish have their struggles with their faith. Annie had struggled for ten years about the shunning of Levi’s father, with God being forgiving why wasn’t her Amish community.
Lisa Jones Baker has once again brought an amazing book about struggling with one’s beliefs and restoring one’s belief that if it is in God’s plan it will happen. I have always been in a community that has had Amish, Old Order Amish, and have always known a little about their faith; I still enjoy reading about the Amish faith But still astounds me that Amish are the most forgiving people but shun someone in their church who does not abide by the Ordnung. If you are looking for a sweet clean romance I recommend you pick up a copy of one of Lisa Jones Baker’s book, this reader has read the last two book in the Hope Chest of Dreams hopefully one day I can read the first Rebecca and Williams story!
I received a free copy from the author for my honest review!
