Excerpt:
He’d been in the Hotel less than ten minutes and every single one of his wolf senses were running at their maximum ability. There was too much to watch, to hear, and to smell.
So much he didn’t understand.
As much as he wanted to find the Conclave member tasked with interrogating him, get it out the way, and get back to his world, it seemed The Hotel had a timetable that wouldn’t—couldn’t—be messed with. Now, it wanted him to eat.
He climbed the steps with purpose, determined to leap through the hoops the hotel demanded of him. Then, he could meet with the Conclave and get back to his search for Geoff.
Sable Audolf.
Her black hair cascaded down over her shoulders, nearly blending into her mocha flesh. The black knit, strapless top hugged her body and left as much flesh exposed as the short mini skirt—also in black. Even though he couldn’t see her feet, he knew what she’d be wearing. Four inch heels—in black to match her clothing. At five feet, ten inches tall, she didn’t need the added height, but always wore stilettos anyway.
The boldest color she wore was the ruby red painted on lips.
She lifted the glass of wine—red, of course—and briefly looked up to the waiter who set a plate in front of the empty chair opposite of her.
Her attention turned to the staff member, before she followed the man’s glare to him.
Even though her eyes looked as pained as they did the night he’d rode away from Carson City, her lips turned to a slight smile.
The waiter who delivered the plate, pulled out the chair across from Sable and motioned for Reider to join her.
He squared his shoulders and walked with all the confidence he could fake. He erected his shields, determined not to let Sable kick down his defenses.
