New Protector Series
Protect Me!!

If you were lucky enough to meet a person with an extraordinary gift, what would you do? Would you be able to take full advantage of the opportunity?
Nat Adams was lucky enough to meet one of those people and it couldn’t have happened at a better time. She thought Shiloh Smith was just a typical guy, but she soon realized how special Shiloh really was. It didn’t take long for her to start noticing things about him. Like, the way he’s always there at the right time. As if he were able to sense things that other people couldn’t. He felt things more intensely than normal guys, and he could do things that other people weren’t capable of.
Shiloh knew Nat was special from the first time he saw her, but in his line of work, getting involved with someone wasn’t practical. Only a handful of people knew the truth about Shi. He chose to keep it a secret in order to keep his younger sister out of harm’s way. When he starts spending most of his time with Nat he knows he can’t leave her out of the loop forever. What will she say when she finds out he’s a Protector? When she realizes that even if she wasn’t beautiful and innocent, even if he didn’t want to look out for her, its been ingrained in his body and mind since birth. He had to protect her.

Q & A with Melissa Townsend about Protect Me

Tell us about Protect Me.
Protect Me is my third book to publish. It’s the first book in The Protector Series. It is a New Adult Romance with a slight paranormal aspect to it.

What initially inspired you to write Protect Me?
Honestly, I never imagined myself writing a book like Protect Me. I wanted to challenge myself by writing a book that is different than my previous two. And I definitely did that. Protect Me is the hardest book I've written to date.

Tell us little about the characters in this book.
Nat Adams is an only child that was born to a mother who didn't want her. She lived with her grandfather until he passed away and then got thrown into foster care. Her foster parents were awful and once she decided she’d had enough, she ran away. Sleeping on a park bench and working at a coffee shop until Shiloh found her.

I would describe Nat as determined, stubborn, and quirky in the best way.

Shiloh Smith is a Protector. He’s able to do and feel things that other people can't. And he has the urge to protect everyone he can. He is raising his younger sister by himself and does his best to make her life easy. When he sees Nat on that park bench one night, he knows right away that she will be important to him and he vows to protect her at all cost.

What was the hardest part of writing this book?
Writing about Shiloh’s friend Bennett was hard. Because he kind of does some stupid things, but he really is a great guy and I hope everyone can forgive him for his mistakes like Shiloh and Nat do.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
I loved writing the chapter that really shows Shiloh’s extraordinary talents for the first time while he protects Nat from an old enemy that corners her in the public restroom.

What are your future project(s)?
I’m currently working on the second book in The Protector Series. It’s titled Change Me and will be available soon. Change Me is the story of Macie (Shiloh’s younger sister) when she becomes old enough to be a Protector.

Now an exciting excerpt from Protect Me!

“You should get some sleep. I’ll leave before morning,” Shiloh tells me once he has stopped pacing.
He makes himself comfortable in the grass about a foot away from the bench. I’ll never admit it, but I’m glad he’s staying. At least I won’t have to worry about Declan coming back to mess with me tonight.
“Just because you saved me doesn’t mean we're friends,” I say as I tuck my still damp hair inside my extra shirt to keep it from giving me a chill.
“I don’t want to be your friend; you’re mean. Now, go to sleep.” I lay there with my mouth open for a moment before rolling over with a huff. I don’t say anything else, and he is gone when the sun wakes me.

5 Star Review

Nat has gone through hell when her own mother dumped her with her grandfather and then she lost him, left with people who did not care for her, she ran away.
Shiloh has his own powers to take care of others and Nat is the one he protects, Shiloh and his sister eventually get Nat to help them even more.
Their adventures are great, story well written , and the characters were fantastic!

From a rural community in southern Oklahoma, Melissa Townsend is a married dental assistant with one child; and on the surface, the picture of today’s ordinary working wife and mother from Smalltown, U.S.A.
As a busy mom, she initially found her escape in reading. It is just in the past few years that she’s found her passion and enjoyment of telling her own stories. Having never travelled or experienced much beyond the realm of country-living, Melissa finds herself taking journeys through an array of genres and different writing styles. Don’t let her quiet, small town, ordinary demeanor mislead you. Sit with her for very long and you will quickly discover her wit, dry sense of humor, and unique perception of the world around her. It’s these characteristics spieled out into her stories that define her writing style and will keep you wanting more.
