Crashing Into Me!

A year after being left at the altar, headstrong E.R Nurse, Lana McKenzie is finally piecing her life back together. Tired of dealing with seeing her ex and his new girlfriend at every turn, she longs for blissful solitude and can’t wait to enjoy a peaceful vacation alone in the mountains. However, her plans go awry when a rude stranger literally embeds himself into her life and mind.

Handsome, wealthy, and troubled, Kayden Capshaw is struggling with the death of his brother, while also trying to escape the claws of his controlling mother. In his grief, the last thing Kayden wants to deal with is the fallout from his last run-in with the law. Yet, he also longs to get to know the woman now snowed in with him at the house on the hill.

The ice between them thaws every minute they spend together, and they find that they have more in common than they realize. Will they find a way to make it through, or will it all, like the snow, melt away?

Q & A with R. L. Jackson about Crashing Into Me!

Tell us about Crashing Into Me.

Crashing into me is a multicultural romance set in present time about Kayden and Lana who meet under dire circumstances. He's stubborn and wild and she's the opposite, brave, headstrong and responsible. The gist of the story is that they end up in a forced proximity situation and realize they have a lot more in common which leads to sparks.

Once they decide to explore this they have a ton of obstacles that get in their way: His super manipulative mother and his ex team up to try and break the union up. They use very unsavory means to try and accomplish this and Kayden and Lana have to pretty much fight for this relationship, but the consequences make it impossible for them.

What initially inspired you to write Crashing Into Me?

I'm a writer who focused mostly on screenplays and after my last venture was picked up for a movie and unfortunately never made, I decided to venture into new ways of telling my stories. That movie was also multicultural but focused on the race differences and the battle that couple had to deal with because of it. With Crashing I didn't want the race to be the focal point but rather an after thought, as race should be this day and age. Not to mention the movie was also a about vampires and the supernatural so I wanted to branch out of that arena for a bit.

Tell us little about the characters in Crashing Into Me?

Kayden as I stated earlier is a spoiled rich kid who's battleing demons about the loss of his brother and father. He never got over what happened or the role he played so he's pretty much just free falling through life making very bad decisions.

Lana is in the middle of an escape from her own past after being left at the altar and having to see her ex everywhere. She's over having to deal with it and has a stigma about relationships and people who buy their way out of bad situations. This makes her judge certain people immediately and hinders her in a lot of ways.

What was the hardest part of writing this book?

The hardest for me was writing the romance scenes. After I stopped blushing, you'd think it would be easier but it never did lol.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?

I have several but one scene I liked was when they ran into each other at a hospital. That scene was when Lana couldn't deny or hide what she was starting to feel and gave her more insight into Kayden as a person.

What are your future project(s)?

I'm currently writing book two as well as starting several other books projects I hope to have out on a consistent schedule through the rest of the year.

Is there anything else you would like to tell the readers about this book/series?

If you're looking for a book heavy on emotion and plot twists, a fun ride with steamy romance, this book is for you. I hope you give it a try and will come back for more later this year!
