Kale's Paroxysm
By Nina Mizner
Genre: M/M Romance
Kale has spent years in a volatile relationship with his ex, Martin. Convinced he will come back, even after a conflict that results in Kale being incarcerated and suspended from his law firm, Kale begins a no-strings-attached relationship with the man he meets in jail.
Eli has always kept his romances with men temporary. He hasn’t always been honest about being gay and he prefers to keep the secrets of his past hidden. Kale’s obsessive nature makes it difficult though, and soon their relationship is edging toward something more. Kale’s possessiveness appears to have no limits, nor do his fits of rage, and Eli worries, as Kale’s affection shifts from Martin to Eli, that he may become Kale’s next victim rather than his lover.

Q & A with Nina R. Schluntz
What books/authors have influenced your writing?
I grew up reading a lot of Stephen King and Dean Koontz. You just can’t go wrong with those guys.
Tell us something you hate doing. Why?
Big social events. I’m always that quiet guy who can’t get a word in. Although now I try to use it as an opportunity to “people watch” and gather info I think I could use to create a character. Ops, I probably shouldn’t say that, huh?
Share a funny incident in your life.
My husband once gave our cat an oatmeal bath. Yeah, I can’t picture it either, but he claims she enjoyed her day at the spa…
When you are in writer mode, music or no music? If music do you have a playlist
I can write anywhere. I can get interrupted mid-sentence and pick back up where I left off, hours or even days later. I don’t need a special zone of concentration to work. Before I owned a computer I would go to a local library between work shifts and jam out a few chapters. Now though, I work on my laptop at home and listen to whatever CD I’m currently into. I once wrote an entire book while playing a single song on repeat.
Have you ever had one character you wanted to go one way with but after the book was done the character was totally different.
Oh, who hasn’t? I know they say you shouldn’t let your characters run away with the story, but it happens. I guess I would be a bad director.
What’s your next project?
I’m working on a few more contemporary romance novels. This next one might have a slight hint of supernatural in it. But nothing like the science fiction books I used to write.
What's the one thing, you can't live without?
Slurpees!! I love me a good frosty Coca Cola slurpee! I have been known to drive to three different 7-11 stores in an effort to find a working machine.
What is your favorite movie (song)?
I am really big into Adam Lambert right now, anything he sings, goes right on the playlist. I flew halfway across America just to attend one of his concerts.
Your favorite book by you or another author.
Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. The book terrified me when I was kid, and as an adult I still love it.

“Kale’s Paroxysm” is Nina’s first contemporary novel, but will not be her last. Visit her blog, mizner13.wordpress.com, for information regarding previous and upcoming publications. She also posts book and movie reviews for a wide variety of genres.
